We are pleased to present Laurel Elliott's sterling silver, scripture based, jewelry designs as the newest addition to the Clothed with Truth inspirational jewelry collection. Her designs feature pure sterling silver mobius bracelets and cuffs inscribed with prayers and biblical messages. Laurel's designs echo her belief that what we wear is also a reflection of who we are and where we've been. From a prayer that has offered us comfort in troubled times, to a quotation that has inspired us to aspire to more than we are, or a song that reminds us of the beauty of life, wearing the written word expresses and affirms our individuality, our own art. Many of her signature designs feature a mobius shape. Named after the German Mathematician August Ferdinand Mobius (1790-1868), the mobius represents the seeming paradox of a plane without end or of one infinite length. As such, it became a symbol for infinity. The mobius turns easily so that the wearer can be reminded of the message at a glance. The engraved message on these designs repeats around the plane into infinity when worn, changing the appearance continually, while the message remains constant.
All of Laurel Elliott's jewelry is made in Manhattan on the edge of historic SoHo in the 19th century Cable Building. The jewelry is made by the lost wax method, a technique in use since ancient times. Molten wax is injected into design molds to produce wax replicas of the model. The waxes are covered with a medium called investment. When heated, the investment hardens while the wax melts away leaving a hollow core. Molten metal flows into this core producing the castings. The castings are then cleaned and finished by hand. The final step is polishing to give it the striking, reflective surface of fine jewelry. It is a time consuming process involving significant care and work, all completed by craftspeople in their studio in Manhattan.
We welcome you to explore her latest creations! The available sterling silver mobius design inscriptions are listed below:
The Lords Prayer "Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
1 Corinthians 13 "'Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
Psalm 23 "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of Righteousness for His name's sake."
Amazing Grace "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, That sav'd a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, Was blind, but now I see."
